Xbox Apparently Bans Final Fantasy 14 Players Over the Game's Terminology
Final Fantasy 14 made its debut on Xbox on March 21, but players are already facing some weird limitations imposed by Microsoft and getting banned for unintentionally breaking them.
Within the Square Enix MMO community, there's a common term used for guild searches is "free company". However, Microsoft's system has mistakenly labeled this term as "solicitation", resulting in bans for its usage.
Even the abbreviation "FC" can activate the system and prompt bans. Notably, the account blocked on Xbox is the one affected, not the Square Enix MMO account, consequently impacting other games owned by the user.
Furthermore, Xbox users weren't happy with the filter's censoring of innocuous words. An example includes the phrase "Harvest dance" being distorted to "Harve???ance" due to the acronym "STD".
Additionally, attempts to form a guild using the word "Knight" on Xbox are thwarted due to the system flagging the term "nig" as a banned word.
