Xiaomi is preparing to release another gaming smartphone, this time under its Redmi sub-brand. Accordingly, Xiaomi has called the device the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, the fourth in the Redmi K40 series that it initially announced in February. While the K40, K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ all have Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs, Xiaomi has confirmed that a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 will grace the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition.

Apparently, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition scores over 724,000 points in AnTuTu v9, which would put the device between the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 888 in terms of performance. For reference, the Snapdragon 888 scores about 100,000 points more in AnTuTu v9, while the Snapdragon 865/870 comes in at around 625,000 points. Xiaomi asserts that the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition has an 11,540 mm2 cooling system that utilises 'aerospace graphene'. We would not be surprised if this marketing speak though, as was the case with the Mi 11 Ultra's 'revolutionary' cooling system.

Xiaomi has also teased the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition's design. As far as we can tell, the device has six physical buttons, of which five are on its right-hand side. Xiaomi's teaser images show two slider buttons and two shoulder buttons, along with a power button. Presumably, there is a volume rocker on the device's other side too, though. Additionally, it appears that Xiaomi has included some lighting on the device's camera housing.
