We are writing to inform you of an important change involving one of our projects. After many years as a NumFOCUS project, Jupyter will be transitioning to the Linux Foundation.

During its time with NumFOCUS, Jupyter has been instrumental in advancing interactive computing and data science. It has revolutionized the way researchers, educators, and data professionals work with code and data, fostering collaboration and reproducibility across various disciplines. Jupyter’s impact on the open-source community has been profound, with millions of users worldwide benefiting from its innovative notebook format and interactive computing environment.

As Jupyter enters an exciting new phase of its journey, we look forward to continuing to collaborate with the community and honoring Jupyter as our first Emeritus Project.

We want to assure all stakeholders that there will be no interruption in the support and development of Jupyter. The project’s existing team, including core developers and maintainers, will remain actively involved throughout this transition and beyond. Users can expect the same level of innovation and community engagement that has always characterized both Jupyter and NumFOCUS.
