Stalking the aisles of your local Blockbuster was once the cherished pre-sleepover ritual of our teen years, until streaming services rendered the tech obsolete and video stores rapidly vanished.
Now Airbnb are letting nostalgia tragics relive their teen years with a ’90s-worthy sleepover at the world’s very last Blockbuster video store, located in Bend, Oregon.
Store manager Sandi Harding is listing the store on the rental platform for an “end of summer sleepover” in appreciation of the local community support she’s received during recent uncertain times.
Despite a shift away from folks sourcing movies via video and DVD stores, the last remaining Blockbuster has managed to survive thanks to a loyal local fan base, according to the Airbnb listing.
“Our Blockbuster store is open because of the incredible local community in Bend, and we’ve been grateful to have the support of those beyond our town as the coronavirus pandemic has impacted our business.”
