In a stunning move, Google has removed the Paytm app from the Google Play Store, making it clear that it does not support unrestricted gambling apps that facilitate sports betting.
Suzanne Frey, Google’s vice president of product security, Android Security and Privacy, said in a blog post: This is a violation of our policies. “However, the statement did not mention Paytm in its blog post.
PDM, on the other hand, claims that the Android app is temporarily unavailable in the Play Store for new downloads or updates. “Dear Paytm`ers, the Paytm Android app is temporarily unavailable on Google’s Play Store for new downloads or updates. It’s coming back soon. All your money is completely safe and you can continue to enjoy your Paytm app as usual,” Paytm tweeted.
“We have these policies in place to protect users from potential policies. When an application violates these policies, we will notify the developer of the violation and remove the application from Google Play until the developer complies with the application,” Frey added in a blog post. “In the event of a recurrence of policy violations, we may take even more serious action, including terminating Google Play Developer Accounts.
