Hino Motors Philippines (HMP), the country’s second-largest and longest-operating truckmaker, has just introduced the 500-series FL8J, a new 26-ton rigid-frame 10-wheeler truck with an efficiency-oriented 6×2 drivetrain.

Brought in as a completely built-up cab and chassis platform from Japan and listed at a starting price of P3.775M, the Hino 500 FL8J features a 7.48m wheelbase, the longest in its class, and a 16-ton, 160 percent load factor payload with 32-foot rear body options.

With a 6-cylinder turbocharged, inter-cooled and directly injected diesel delivering 280PS and 824Nm to the first of its two rear axles, and this through an advanced 9-speed manual gearbox, the FL8J puts equal emphasis on stopping its 26,000kg gross vehicle weight, mounting dual-circuit air-actuated brakes with heavy-duty truck ABS.

The new Hino 500 FL8J gives the truckmaker the widest lineup of medium-duty trucks in the country and adds that general cargo 6×2 drivetrain option to the existing 6×4 offering on their FM8J 10-wheeler that’s meant for heavy aggregates tipper service.
