When I first built Spliit, I naturally chose English as the default language to reach the widest audience possible. I never expected it to gain the traction it has, and soon enough, people started asking for support in different languages.
Adding internationalization to a web app isn’t exactly straightforward. But once again, the magic of open-source came through—someone from Finland, @iqqmuT, stepped up and added not only the first additional language but also the framework for many more to be included.
Since then, we've seen contributions from all over: French by @Strekol, Spanish by @PauSansa, German by @chrisschuller, Chinese by @kressety, Russian by @utkinn, and, most recently, Italian by @Maxco10.
Is your language missing? Want to contribute? Feel free to submit a new translation on GitHub! For now, you’ll need to be comfortable using GitHub and working with JSON files, but I hope to introduce a more user-friendly tool soon for non-developers to get involved.
