What Should I do with my life

I’m a 27-year-old software engineer working remotely based out of Colorado and for better or worse I am at a bit of a crossroads. I would like to share a bit about who I am for context then frame what exactly it is I want input on.

I’m sure a lot of my personal native is not all that unique, I began fiddling with computers in middle school and at some point found out people will give you money for that.

I was an okay student bright but not brilliant I never got the meta of school and just found it to be this arbitrary set of things to memorize that made me feel bad about myself if I didn’t. Math was especially frustrating while not really difficult for me it just felt like a random set of rules I was too stupid to get the point of (I assumed everyone else just did but am starting to suspect I was not alone). I was very fortunate however to have an awesome introductory programming course I was then able to then retake multiple years as a more self-directed experience. It was here I caught the bug for programming, I would spend more time writing toy programs than any of my other assignments by far.

I only applied to one college, Boulder, and only really attended because it was mostly on my parent's dime, and thought the paper would be useful. Again I did okay garnering a 3.6 with a B.S in Computer Science, but found most of the courses followed the “just go over the study guide the night before and you’ll do good enough to get above a 3.0 pattern.” There were a few classes that really challenged me but those were the exception, not the norm.
