GlobalFoundries moves headquarters from Silicon Valley to Malta
MALTA, N.Y. — GlobalFoundries is moving its headquarters from Silicon Valley to Saratoga County, the company announced Monday, as it positions itself for growth, strengthens partnerships with customers and recruits new talent.
CEO Tom Caulfield, along with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer shared the news at a press conference on Monday at Fab 8, the company’s most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility.
“We are enhancing our presence in upstate New York, and we are officially, as of today, relocating our headquarters to Saratoga County,” Caulfield said on Monday, noting that the move comes at Schumer’s urging, and with his support.
GF has invested more than $15 billion in its Malta site over the last decade to support innovation and manufacturing capacity.
In 2021, the company is doubling its planned investment to expand global capacity, with $500 million targeted for Malta alone.
