San Francisco Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie on Sunday named OpenAI boss Sam Altman to his transition team Monday, pledging to build a government rooted in accountability and change.

“I’m excited to introduce this talented and diverse team who will help guide our transition and lay the groundwork for the change San Franciscans demand,” Lurie said.

The transition team will counsel Lurie and his advisors as they build relationships with city agencies, develop partnerships, assemble leadership and create 100-day plans with accountability metrics.

A press release announcing Altman as a pick describes him as someone “who previously ran Y Combinator, lives in San Francisco.” The campaign told The Standard its hopes Altman can contribute to the city’s downtown and recovery and implementing artificial intelligence into City Hall.

The campaign said on Monday it doesn’t have a timetable for when position, such as chief of staff to the mayor, will be finalized.
