To explain how a polarizing filter works on a camera, we have to get a little into physics. As you probably know and also learned at school back then, sunlight consists of waves. These swing in every conceivable direction. So are not polarized. Due to its nature, a polarizing filter is only able to pass light waves that vibrate in a certain direction.
