It’s a new year and we at Tobiko are excited for what lies ahead. There has already been some major news in the data world, and we’re proud to add to it with an announcement of our own: Tobiko has acquired Quary!

This acquisition is an important step forward for Tobiko and what we can build for our products and community, particularly open-source. Users of Tobiko’s tools can already begin enjoying benefits of our partnership with Quary, from significantly faster compile times thanks to Quary’s use of Rust in its frameworks, to improvements to our async task queuing software.

We designed Tobiko’s solution with the goal of enabling faster, error-free, data transformation with much less waste than other tools in the space. From day one, we’ve had a deep semantic understanding of SQL and the ability to capture current and historical states of data giving us unparalleled precision and reliability in transformation. Our column-level lineage puts industry-leading control and insight into the hands of our users - including our open-source project, SQLMesh - into how data flows across tables and transformations. And our virtual data environments allow changes in development with zero waste in processing resources.

Now, joining forces with Quary takes our vision even further. By integrating their Rust-powered capabilities and expertise in building transparent, accessible data workflows, we’re poised to significantly enhance developer experience and development velocity. Together, we can provide faster, more intuitive, and more impactful tools for data engineers and teams.
