Is anyone aware of studies measuring the cost of serving up errors (in terms of engagement, retention, etc.), analogous to the numerous (mostly unpublished) studies of the impact of latency? I did a quick analysis of this a couple years ago and didn't get the result I expected.
My goal was to quantify the cost of errors to justify better testing, but I found that there was basically no cost (at the margin, given the limitations of the analysis, which were legion) so, if anything, we seemed to be spending more than the optimal level of effort on testing.
