Dubai's Planned $32 Billion Mega Airport Project

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced this Sunday that it will begin building new terminals at Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai's second , to make it the largest in the world, once completed, with capacity for more than 260 million passengers .

In his X account, Dubai Governor Mohamed bin Rashid announced the start of construction of "the new terminals at Al Maktoum International Airport", which will cost approximately 128 billion Emirati dirhams ($34 billion).

The infrastructure, promoted by the Dubai Aviation Corporation, will house "400 boarding gates and will have five parallel runways" , adding that "it will be five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport, whose operations will be completely transferred to Al Maktoum in the next years".

"Dubai will be the world's largest airport , its port, its urban interchange and its new global center," explained Bin Rashid, who also serves as vice president and prime minister of the UAE.
