The website and Connect service for smartwatch maker Garmin has been down for at least 24 hours, and one report says it may have been caused by a ransomware attack.

The company posted statements on Twitter noting the outages on Thursday morning, The outages also affect their call centers, meaning they cannot receive calls, emails or online chats from customers.

"We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and apologize for this inconvenience," wrote Garmin in statements posted to Twitter and the Garmin.com website.

Garmin Connect is a tool available through its website or a mobile app allowing owners of its wearables, including smartwatches, to track and analyze fitness activities. Users can also compete with friends and share challenges.

According to ZDNet, several Garmin employees went to social media and confirmed the outages were caused by a ransomware attack.
