I’m trying to make my life less dull by spending time learning and researching “how it works“ in the data engineering field.

But here’s something you might not know: how the engineers at ClickHouse — the company behind one of the world’s most powerful OLAP systems — build their internal data warehouse.

This blog post shares my takeaways after reading insights from their engineers. We’ll explore how they built their data warehouse and continuously improved and strengthened it to handle 50 TBs of data daily.

ClickHouse is a high-performance, open-source columnar database designed for fast, real-time analytical queries. Built to handle large-scale data, it excels in OLAP scenarios, delivering rapid query execution even on massive datasets.

They aim to better understand their customers, including how they use the service, the challenges they face, how ClickHouse can help, and how to make pricing affordable.
