The South Street Diner (formerly known at the Blue Diner) has been a fixture in Boston’s historic Leather District ever since two brothers, returning from the war, built it in 1943. Over the years it’s been a mainstay for Big Dig construction workers, an upscale flashback and now hosts after-hour customers as Boston’s only 24/7 restaurant. Filmmakers Melissa and Tom Dowler spent 24 hours filming in the diner, and 24 Hours At The South Street Diner is the result. Along the way, they meet diner regulars, first-time patrons, late-night club kids and past owners, all with a story to tell about why the diner means so much to them. In a city known for its past history, 24 Hours At The South Street Diner is the story of a living, breathing cultural landmark, nestled in a quiet corner of downtown.
