A senior US official says the leaders of the United States, Japan and South Korea are expected to agree on establishing a trilateral secretariat to coordinate their countries' collaboration.

US President Joe Biden arrived in the Peruvian capital Lima on Thursday to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.

Biden is scheduled to hold a three-way summit with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol on Friday.

Sullivan said, "We fully expect it would continue" under the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump.
