Sportier Volkswagen Tiguan R with 235kW revealed!

Following the recent reveal of the refreshed Tiguan, Volkswagen has revealed a sportier 235 kW Tiguan R model that, according to Car Magazine, will launch in SA later in the year 2021.

The Volkswagen Tiguan R will sit on top of the Tiguan range and will feature the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine but massaged to churn out 235 kW.

Details around the model remain scarce at this stage but what we know so far is that’s will spawn similar tech found in the Golf 8.

Refreshed Volkswagen Tiguan models come standard with LED headlights and taillights, a larger grille and big Tiguan lettering at the back. The bumpers have been redesigned and now incorporate bigger vents.

Inside, the refreshed Tiguan comes with a new multifunction steering wheel, as well as a redesigned centre stack that houses a redesigned touchscreen. The infotainment system lurks VW’s latest MIB3 system. All Tiguan models now come standard with a digital instrument cluster.
