The simplest Homebridge installation for Raspberry Pi
More and more smart devices nowadays have support for Homekit. But there are also plenty of devices that you cannot (yet) operate via Homekit and the Home app in iOS.
With the help of Homebridge it is possible to turn a non-Homekit compatible device into a Homekit device. Consider, for example, a Ring video doorbell, Click on / Click off devices, Televisions, IP cameras, etc. For the support of the various devices, Homebridge uses plugins.
Homebridge is a great solution to make your home smarter. Unfortunately, the installation on a Raspberry Pi was a difficult job. This has changed, as a ready-made disk image is available. Place the image file on an SD card. Plug these into a Raspberry Pi and you're done.
The image is based on Raspbian Lite and works on all Raspberry Pi models. In addition to the necessary services, the Homebridge Config UI X is also installed by default, allowing you to manage Homebridge completely via Safari or another web browser.
