When I first became an AI Adoption Lead, I’ll admit I wasn’t entirely sure what to make of the title. In a world full of “AI Leads”, “Heads of AI”, “Heads of Data” and “Directors of Data Science”, it felt like a role that didn’t carry the weight I initially envisioned. I thought my focus would be solely on the technology—the models, the algorithms, the cutting-edge advancements that drive AI forward.

But as I began working across teams and departments, I quickly realized that the real challenges weren’t just technical. It wasn’t just about building better models or leveraging the latest algorithms. Instead, I found myself dealing with fragmented AI initiatives, a lack of collaboration between teams, and difficulties scaling AI beyond initial proof-of-concept phases. AI adoption required more than technical expertise—it demanded a broader vision that connected technology, business objectives, and organizational strategy.

This realization reshaped my understanding of the role. AI success is as much about strategic leadership as it is about technical prowess. The AI Adoption Lead is pivotal in transforming isolated AI projects into cohesive, business-aligned strategies that drive real value.
