Migros starts a national pioneering project. It is intended to take plastic recycling to a new level in Switzerland. As the company announced in a media release, it is introducing a plastic collection bag that is subject to a charge. This allows plastic waste to be collected at home and then handed over to a Migros branch. In the future, packaging for the Migros industry is to be made from the plastic waste collected. The starting signal will be given on June 29th at the Migros Cooperative in Lucerne. If the first stage is successful and the offer is well received, the cooperatives of Geneva, Neuchâtel-Freiburg, Vaud and Valais would be added at the end of August, the media release said. By spring 2021, all regional Migros cooperatives in Switzerland would offer the new plastic collection points. For this pilot project, Migros is entering into a partnership with Swiss plastic recyclers. InnoRecycling AG sorts the material. InnoPlastics AG produces regranulates from which new packaging for Migros products is to be created.
