Product Links: Technical specifications Some pictures, along with a short video: Posted on Mastodon, and Twitter. Back in December of 2023, I put out a request on social media for a laptop that supported the PKU (xonly) and IBT (Indirect Branch Tracking) features, used to implement ROP mitigations, found (together) on recent Intel CPUs...
... this request was answered by a very generous person in April of 2024. Hooray! CPU: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz x4 (SMT off) RAM: 16GB SSD: 512G Samsung PM9B1 M.2 NVMe LCD: 13.3" IPS, 1080p What works! So far, I've tested the following running 7.5 -current (As of August 2024)! Wireless: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 (CNVi) supported by iwx(4) Touchpad/TrackPoint: Elan ClickPad (version 4, firmware 0x5f3001) supported by pms(4), TrackPoint and physical mouse buttons work Touchscreen: Works by default, USB uhidev(4) "ELAN Touchscreen" Audio: azalia(4) device, Realtek ALC257 codec Power management: apmd works Accelerated X11/3D: inteldrm(4) works, VA-API hardware video works with intel-media-drivers package ACPI S3 (RAM): Linux S3 in BIOS, zzz suspend/resume works What doesn't, or is untested ACPI S0i (Suspend-to-Idle): Untested, but should be supported in -current/7.6 Thunderbolt 4: Untested, but PCIe tunneling needs to be disabled in the BIOS or Type-C charging breaks Ethernet: Requires Lenovo proprietary dongle Webcam: uvideo(4) device, should work but untested, Thinkshutter switch for privacy. VMX/vmd(8): Untested, but should work, vmm(4) shows up in dmesg Bluetooth: OpenBSD doesn't support it, so untested. And here's the dmesg! If you liked this article, I'd sure appreciate a pizza. But only if you really want to! Okay. ↵ Copyright © 2020 Bryan Steele.OpenBSD Gaming Shopping Guide Michael W Lucas Peter N. M. Hansteen OpenBSD Journal Justin's *BSD Digest BSDTalk podcast ...
