Three Taiwanese Apple contract manufacturers are grappling with the ongoing Covid crisis in India. According to the Taiwanese news source, Foxconn’s Indian factory has seen the iPhone 12 production cut by half due to infected workers.

Under the recent Covid-19 outbreak, Foxconn and Wistron had slowed down production, both of the manufacturing capacity expansion plans have also been delayed.

The Tamil Nadu government had set rules for manufacturers to cut on-site workers by half. According to CNA, the Foxconn assembly line for making iPhones in Chennai, however, is still under full operation to meet the delivery dates.

Pegatron also continues plant constructions in order to kick off the iPhone X manufacturing plans with the goal of finishing the first assembly line by the end of June.

“It is very likely that Pegatron’s plan to finish plant construction this year will be postponed,” said Taiwan Institute of Economic Research Analyst Chiu Shih-Fang, “depending on when the Covid-19 crisis comes to an end.”
