Contributing to Open-Source is a challenging but very rewarding journey. It helps you become a better programmer, adds value and helps you land better jobs. There are multiple ways in which you can begin to contribute to Open-Source software but my favourite is jumping right in.

These steps we listed down here were made after running a challenge that had had 11 people successfully contribute 25 pull requests to various organisations, out of which 8 were code-related features, and 8 were bug fixes and many more content and doc related pull requests that closed pending issues reducing the maintainer workload.

Doing that gave us a lot of insights and confidence into what the ideal steps of progression should be and we took the lessons we learned from that and converted them into actionable steps so that you can breeze through them. If you want to join in for the next challenge, join our discord community.

Hopefully, this guide could act as a playbook in your open-source journey and could give you pointers on how to move forward efficiently through the challenge and what to do when you get stuck.
