Kubernetes, with it's implementation of the cluster construct has simplified the ability to schedule workloads across a collection of VMs or nodes. Declarative configuration, immutability, auto-scaling, and self healing have vastly simplified the paradigm of workload management within the cluster - which has enabled teams to move at increasing velocities.
