India’s relations with the neighboring nations have never been stable, whether it is China or Pakistan or even Nepal, there are some or the other issues that pile up. China has had tensions regarding some territories in the past. Recently India and China had a standoff in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh which led to deaths of soldiers on both the sides.

Indians have been following the Swadeshi Movement since the time of Independence and a majority want to boycott the Chinese products in order to condemn the activities of Chinese Government. We too think it is time for Indian companies too start manufacturing and become self sufficient but are we promoting the idea correctly or is it another spam of Fake News?

This post has been shared by thousands of people on social media without any fact checking. US is one of the largest exporter of Japan. In a report by Federation of American Scientists, in 2018, U.S. exports to Japan totaled $121.1 billion, with $75.7 billion in goods and $45.4 billion in services. Also, not many people know that Japan does not have a standing army of its own and is protected by the US army only. Thus, these claims are baseless.

A recent post claims that if you see barcodes starting with number 690 to 600 then it is a Chinese product, on the other hand, barcodes starting with number 890 is the country code of India. The facts demonstrate that prefixes 690 to 699 are alloted to GS1 China, and ‘890’ is relegated to GS1 India, yet that doesn’t mean items with those prefixes are made there. GS1 allocates prefixes to organizations dependent on a lot of nation codes.
