Kamaru “The Nigerian Nightmare” Usman, 33, is still the welterweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Fighting out of Nigeria by way of Delray Beach, Florida, United States, the Nigerian-American mixed martial artist successfully defended his title at “UFC 251.”

Featuring 13 MMA matches, “UFC 251” took place at the UFC Fight Island on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on July 11, 2020 (or July 12, 2020 in the UAE). In the main event, Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal, 35, of Miami, Florida challenged Usman for the UFC Welterweight Championship belt.

Marc Goddard served as the referee of the title bout. After five five-minute rounds, the welterweight contest was left in the hands of the three judges.

Two judges scored it 50-45 while one judge also saw it 49-16 in favor of the same fighter. In the end, Goddard raised the hand of Usman, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
