As a Product Design student, a solid understanding of Visual Design is an essential part of the learning process. And what better way to learn about the basics of visual design than by recreating the designs of successful apps and websites.

So, for week 7 of our Product Design class, our task was pre tty straightforward: Pick an app or a website of your choice and recreate the User Interface in Figma. When it came to choosing a website to recreate, the decision was pretty easy for me; it had to be the one website I use every day — YouTube. I’m about to digress here, but I cannot overemphasize how useful YouTube has been to me when it comes to learning. When people remark on how multi-talented I am, I almost want to tell them to thank YouTube videos, because the number of things I have learned by watching YouTube videos can give my formal education a run for its money. Not only do I owe a lot of my knowledge to watching YouTube videos, but I also think its UI is visually appealing. So choosing it for my first UI design task was a no-brainer.
