Especially in the beginning, you will feel proud of having nai led a job at one of the most successful and reputable companies in the world. For many people, it will only stay a dream. This feeling comes with the ultimate will to do the best work you can do. It feels like a privilege. For me, the gigantic newly constructed office building was an eyecatcher as well. It had its coffee roastery and an Italian quarter where your fresh pizza gets prepared in front of your eyes.
Being basically on the source of digital transformation is exciting. You can see how the world changes and get more digital. You see how customers are using technology and products and how it improves their lives. You also learn a lot about competitors and corporate strategies. Microsoft’s products are amazing and for the most part easy to understand. The technology behind however takes a while to fully grasp. Many non-tech guys even in higher positions don’t have a basic understanding of the technology behind the products so you are one way ahead if you are putting in the effort to learn more about it.
It’s really beyond imagination to see how big and powerful Microsoft is. It’s so big that even experienced employees don’t know a lot of things or have never met many people outside their position/departments and country. It’s that big. You are one out of 163.000!
