DIY — UniFi Security Surveillance System Setup
In this article, I’ll discuss setting up an enterprise-grade network security surveillance system with UniFi (Ubiquiti), which has enhanced our home security and privacy. Over the past few months, my brother Anshuman and I have worked on this project to set up a smart home security system that can be managed from one console and accessed globally.
Ubiquiti Inc. is a New York City-based network company known for manufacturing robust enterprise-grade networking equipment. Their product suite covers Networking Gateways, AI Cameras, Doorbells, Talk Phones, and many other security devices. These devices provide a unified security ecosystem that can be easily managed with their UniFi software control panel, a user-friendly interface that allows you to monitor and configure your network with ease.
When setting up a home Mesh network, it’s crucial to understand how the devices will communicate over the internet. This knowledge is key to ensuring that any devices connected to your home network are accessible anywhere and that the network security configurations have firewall rules to restrict traffic from one device to another. We will discuss different factors regarding connectivity, security & privacy when choosing UniFi devices for home network setup.
