Recently, Equinix stopped commercial sales of Metal to focus on the solutions our customers have told us drive the most impact on their business, namely colocation, interconnection, and our hyperscale offerings. As such, with this announcement, we’ll move towards an orderly sunsetting of Equinix Metal at the end of June 2026.
Our digital infrastructure services remain foundational to our strategy and how we serve our customers. We will continue to invest further in solutions like Equinix Fabric and Network Edge, as well as upcoming innovations aimed at better serving your needs.
As Metal customers, I know this is disappointing, but we commit to working with you over the coming months to find an alternative solution, whether at Equinix with colocation or managed services or via third-party options.
For current Metal customers under contract, there will be no changes to your service or support over these next months. As your contract ends, we’ll offer a flexible month-to-month option to give you additional time to find an alternative or migrate workloads. And for existing on-demand customers, you can continue using Metal until further notice. We plan to use this tech stack internally, so while we won’t be developing new features for Metal, we will ensure the continued performance, security, and stability of the Metal product until it is sunset.
