In 2020, the whole world is fighting against a pandemic, Covid19. In this vulnerable time, our doctors have proved once again that they are our real heroes and we all need them badly. Despite being worried about their lives, they are at their jobs for saving the lives of others. A great salute to all our doctors for their dedication, determination, bravery, and round the clock service.

Today is July 01, and India celebrates this day as National doctor’s day to convey gratitude to all white apron wearers for their sincere and selfless services. The Medical Association announces a specific theme to celebrate this day. This year, the theme of National Doctor’s day is “Lessen the mortality of Covid-19”.

But do you know what’s the reason to choose July 01 as a doctor’s day?Well, this date remarks the birth and death anniversary of a very talented, iconic, and globally renowned Indian physician, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was not only a successful physician but also played an important role as a freedom fighter, educationist, and politician.

Dr. Roy was born in 1882 in Bengal, and completed his medicine at the University of Calcutta. He was so much fond of learning medicine that even after being rejected thirty times, he kept trying to join one of the prestigious hospitals in England, St Bartholomew’s Hospital for mastering his subjects. Interestingly, he did not only achieve his goal of getting admission to the London institute but also made every Indian proud after becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians.
