Proposal for Establishing The WordPress Growth Foundation - Fund WP
We at FundWP are always asking – how can we help the WordPress community, development and culture grow and be sustainable?
In WordPress, continuous innovation and support for contributors is essential. To address this need, we propose the establishment of The WordPress Growth Foundation—a dedicated entity focused on supporting all levels of WordPress developers, from Automattic core developers to non-sponsored freelancers.
The primary goal of The WordPress Growth Foundation is to create a sustainable financial ecosystem that ensures fair compensation and recognition for every contributor to WordPress. This initiative will be separate from existing financial structures to focus solely on rewarding development efforts.
By establishing The WordPress Growth Foundation, we can ensure that funding for individual contributors is distinctly managed, providing a clear pathway for compensating and incentivizing developers who drive the platform forward. This separation from the existing foundation and leadership addresses current limitations in financially supporting individual contributors.
In recognition of the current perceived lack of contribution by hosting companies, the hosts could insist that this is the way forward and sign up to financing the establishment of such a foundation.
