Snapsrv is a service that rotates snapshot backups.
Online storage that protects your backups from evil maids and ransomware by creating read-only daily snapshots. If your current data is deleted or encrypted, you still have access to the protected snapshots.
The monthly fee consists of € 10,- per user and € 3,- per 100 GB of storage. Unlimited traffic is offered but is limited by the Fair Use Policy of Tilaa.
Snapsrv is currently in a limited beta. Users from the mailing list will be invited in small batches. After accepting the invite and fulfilling first payment I generally email the account details within one business day.
Virtual machines are configured with Debian stable, a BTRFS filesystem for /home and a subvolume for ~/current. Daily snapshots of the subvolume are created and stored in a directory with the date and time as name. The virtual machines only run OpenSSH with all non administrative accounts chrooted in their homedirectory with ForceCommand internal-sftp, ChrootDirectory %h and some other settings.
I currently don’t support rsync for normal acounts because that would require SSH access. It is more difficult to guarantee security and privacy with such access. For a premium I can offer dedicated virtual machines which only you’ll have access, which does allow SSH access.
