This is going to be a long post on a topic that I find exhausting to write about, and also a detour from one contracted book that I'm supposed to be writing nowadays.
To elaborate a bit more, I think it's important for me to write a few things I see about this issue [1] that has [2] been [3] silently [4] brewing for years in the CL world until it has started to boil, as evident in a series [5] of related [6] GitHub threads [7], a mail [8] from the current maintainer of ASDF, a Reddit thread [9], a blog post [10], another Reddit thread [11]... and, chronologically, it seems that this article as well now that it's public.
