As I recently challenged myself to a hardcore week of writing, I thought about following this Abraham Lincoln’s pearl of wisdom:

Make something people want. Write something people already like to read. All of this pointed to the same direction. If I knew precisely what fellow indie hackers like to read, I might be able to write more interesting stuff.

Fortunately, there’s a section on Indie Hackers called Best Posts of All-time. Let’s call it the Indie Hackers’ Hall of Fame.

I took some ScrapingBee credits I had left, and got to work. I browsed the Hall of Fame’s 100 pages, and manually categorized the data. The following is what I found. 👇

I've grouped the Hall of Fame’s posts into 11 topics, and defined the engagement metric as the sum of votes + comments. The following are the top 2 by far:

The Success story topic represents 38% of the Hall of Fame's posts, and 36% of the engagement. The most upvoted and commented post of this topic is How I Went from Indie Lurker to Indie Hacker, with 543 votes and comments.
