Over the past decade, when it comes to productivity — I’ve done it all — Google calendars, Asana, Monday.com, Trello, Notion, to-do lists, reminders, 5am wake up, 3am wake up, post-it notes, burn down charts, and whatever else you can think of.

Recently, I’ve been getting a ton of productivity-based recommendations on YouTube. Perhaps Google algorithms and tracking cookies know that I’m up to something, or perhaps they’re noticing my absence from the general Internet activities I usually do has suddenly taken a nosedive.

Whatever the case, I found myself fast-forwarding through a few of them. What did I learn from the exercise? That most recommended productivity vids on YouTube are by people who are mostly single, maybe with a pet or two, living their best twenties/early thirties lives — without small kids that have the attention span of a goldfish.

In addition to that commonality, they all tell you the same thing with to-do lists and setting calendar dates — with some variation here and there.
