Volkswagen has just debuted the refreshed 2021 Arteon including the Arteon R and Arteon R Shooting Brake. The Arteon R is the flagship model and the Shooting Brake is an all new body style being introduced to the lineup.

The 2021 Arteon gets a mild design update. The front end has a continuous light strip with chrome bars and new air intakes at the bottom. A unique LED light signature at the front and rear further help differentiate the new Arteon.

The new Arteon Shooting Brake has a long roof line that extends towards the rear and ends with the rear spoiler. The Shooting Brake body style is available on all model variants including the Arteon R. The Shooting Brake won’t be offered in the States.

The Arteon R is the high performance version of the Arteon. It’s powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 316 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Power goes through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission to all four wheels. It features R-Performance Torque Vectoring that distributes the torque between the front and rear axles and also between the rear wheels. Unfortunately it also won’t be offered in the States.

Only the base Arteon will be sold in the States and it’s powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission come standard. All-wheel drive is available as an option. It will be offered in three model trims: SE, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium R-Line. The last two come with the R-Line package that features a sportier body design.
