Here is a our user, he is standing near a wall, and though some glaring wholes he can see a pile of gold. The pile of gold are our features, reasons why he might want to come to us. It is the reason why our product can be valuable to them. Barriers are these thousands of small and big reasons which makes it is hard for the user to reach the gold.

Increase the pile of gold, so that the user has more reason to cross the barriers. The more compelling the reason, the more effort user will put in reach you and the industrious ones will actually succeed. Increase the pile of gold by increasing features, it can be both their quantity or quality.

Remove the barriers. If there are no barriers, the user might come across even for a penny. And if there are lot of barriers, most of them will give up.

Barriers can be on the marketing side of things. One barrier is that user doesn’t know about the gold on the other side and hence won’t come over. There are countless ways we can create barriers in the product as well. Difficult signup flow (we'll fix ours), long onboarding steps, confusing UI/UX. Strive to remove the barriers. Bring down the wall, one brick at a time. Ideally do both, add gold and remove barriers  💰💰💰🏃‍♂️🧱 Users will come, and bring their friends as well.
