eduroam’s usage has grown tremendously and is available at nearly 1,000 colleges, universities, and research facilities across the US.

Internet2 is expanding and scaling the eduroam service to selected community-anchor organizations, and has been working with regional and state-wide organizations to offer eduroam to K-12 schools, libraries, and museums. After consulting with the community through a requirements gathering exercise in the fall of 2020, we will be moving eduroam to a cloud-forward architecture that aligns with the DevOps methodology and design principles of the InCommon Federation to support this expansion.

This change will go into effect at the end of this year. There is no action required from eduroam subscribers at this time. Starting this month, our current eduroam subscribers will be receiving monthly updates that include additional information about the new capabilities, as well as what to expect prior to and during the transition to the new operational model.

We welcome you to join us and your colleagues for an information webinar on June 30 at 1 p.m. ET. Register today for #Love2eduroam: Expanding eduroam across the US.
