Running CloudNativePG (CNPG) allows you to run a replicated PostgreSQL cluster with similar characteristics to a production employment on your personal machine. This is convenient as you can rapidly deploy and destroy clusters as needed within one or two commands.

This is an opinionated guide – it takes away the guesswork of things like “which Minikube driver should I use and how do I install it?” and simply offers a working solution.

This is a guide to getting up and running in 5 minutes. We’ll do it in three steps: (1) Installing Minikube, (2) Deploying the CPNG operator, and (3) Interacting with the cluster.

This consists of a couple of steps to install Minikube and the virtualisation software it depends on, allowing our user to access it, and then starting the cluster.

It’s a bit misleading though, as the resource will still be in the process of deploying. We can check if it’s ready:
