Watch this one minute video that has exploded on the internet. It’s brilliant in the comic simplicity. Apparently, many relationship counselors advise their clients to watch this.

Me thinking: An artist would go to great length to make it real like letting the props team bang a nail on her forehead. Wow, kudos to the actress.

John Gary, in his top selling book in 1990s, Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus, talks about implicit point system and their [ men and women’s] differing approach to handling stress.

People have an implicit score system — they may not be aware of it explicitly. Men assign small acts, small expenditures, fewer points. Larger blocks of points (20 points and more) are for what they consider bigger expenditures. To a woman, the emotional value delivered by sincere attention is inseparable from the act. So, the 20 point items of men get only 1 point of recognition from women. So, men tend to think he can do one big thing for her (like solving the root cause of her problem) and not do much else, assuming he has “banked” points and can afford to “coast.” Women, on their part, would rather have many little things done for her on a regular basis that reinforces a positive answer to “will he be there for me?”

However, I can think of a much simpler explanation that has nothing to do with gender. The simpler explanation: humanity is flooded with liberal doses of golden rule but sparsely exposed to the platinum rule.
