The GNOME Project is proud to announce the release of GNOME 43, ‘Guadalajara’. This release brings a completely redesigned system settings menu which allows quickly changing common settings, including switching between Light and Dark mode. The new Device Security page provides information about the security of your physical hardware and firmware. Many of the core applications have been ported to GTK4 and libadwaita and received improvements in the process, such as Files, Maps, Builder and many others. To learn more about the changes in GNOME 43, you can read the release notes. GNOME 43 will be available shortly in many distributions, such as Fedora 37 and Ubuntu 22.10. If you want to try it today, you can look for their beta releases, which will be available very soon: We are also providing our own installer images for debugging and testing features. These images are meant for installation in a vm and require GNOME Boxes with UEFI support. We suggest getting Boxes from Flathub. If you are interested in building applications for GNOME 43, look for the GNOME 43 Flatpak SDK, which is available in the repository. This six-month effort wouldn't have been possible without the whole GNOME community, made of contributors and friends from all around the world: developers, designers, documentation writers, usability and accessibility specialists, translators, maintainers, students, system administrators, companies, artists, testers, the local GUADEC team in Guadalajara, and last, but not least, our users. GNOME would not exist without all of you. Thank you to everyone! We hope to see some of you at GNOME Asia 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! Our next release, GNOME 44, is planned for March 2023. Until then, enjoy GNOME 43. ❤️ The GNOME release team -- devel-announce-list mailing list (Log in to post comments)
