The Asus ROG XG Mobile is a compact graphics docking solution that debuted in 2021 as a companion for some Asus ROG gaming laptops and tablets. Thanks to a proprietary ROG XG Mobile connector, they were able to deliver 64 Gbps of data throughput for better performance than you’d get from a Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 dock. But that port also meant that the docks could only be used with the small handful of PCs released by Asus that had that port.

Now Asus has introduced the ROG XG Mobile (2025) graphics dock which does away with that proprietary port. Instead it has a Thunderbolt 5 port with support for bi-directional data transfer speeds as high as 80 Gbps.

Asus say the new ROX GX Mobile features “next-gen NVIDIA GeForce RTX” graphics, and the new eGPU is also 18 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter-weight than its predecessor. It’s 30mm (1.2 inches) thick and has a starting weight of 956 grams (2.1 pounds). It has a built-in 320 watt power supply, and the new ROG XG Mobile has an updated cooling system with fans that are about 3 dB quieter.

The new model has a semi-transparent case that lets you sort of, kind of see the internals, and the dock has a built-in kickstand that lets you prop it up vertically.
