While statistically very unlikely, researchers have said it is still possible to catch Covid after having the vaccine and certain groups are more at risk than others

More than 60 million people have been given a dose of Coronavirus vaccine in the UK, a huge milestone as the country bids to move back to normal life after the pandemic.

But while taking the vaccine is the best way to protect yourself against the potentially deadly disease, there have been reports of people still testing positive for Covid-19 after taking it.

This is because it can take several weeks for the body to develop protection against the illness and the current vaccines need two doses to be fully effective.

Scientists at King's College in London have been researching cases of infection after vaccine, by examining data from around 1.1 million people who had been vaccinated between last December and mid May.

They found that 2,278 adults tested positive after vaccination, or just 0.2 per cent. That figure drops even further for those who had two doses, with just 187, or 0.03 per cent catching Covid.
