Proton Authenticator
Just download the app, scan your QR codes or import existing codes, and you’re set. You don’t need a Proton Account to use it.
Get Proton Authenticator for your device. You can sign in to your Proton Account if you want to sync 2FA codes across your devices, but login isn’t required.
When you enable 2FA on an account, the website or app will provide you with a QR code or a secret key. Scan the QR code or enter the key into Proton Authenticator. You can also import tokens from another authenticator.
Proton Authenticator will generate a new 6-digit code every few seconds. When logging in to an account, enter the code as an extra layer of security.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second layer of login security to your accounts, in addition to your password. Even if hackers know your password, they can’t access your account without this second code. An authenticator app generates one-time codes right on your device — safer and quicker than having codes sent by email or SMS.
Proton Authenticator is an open source and end-to-end encrypted 2FA app that’s simple and free to use. It is available on all platforms, including desktop. Easily sync or back up your 2FA codes so you never lose access to your accounts.
