This post is about a song. Two songs actually, Bliss and Dunia, both playlisted by Buddha’s Lounge on YouTube. It’s also about the power that music has to cause transformational effects to our normal reality, to take us to a new level. It’s not just emotional, it’s a real life transformation that happens. You find yourself changing into something you weren’t before, a new experience, a new feeling, seeing the world in a new way, having an epiphany. Plug in the ear buds, click and sit back.

And here’s my epiphany. Bliss is the balm that heals all wounds. “ Like waves to the shore, part of the ocean. The stars high above, part of the sky. Now I drift to you, I dream of a river. A water so blue, wish I could live there. Wish you were here.”

The music starts off with the muezzin singing about Dunia. Dunia means “world” in Arabic , as in the world we live in. It also means “to be satisfied”, “to be well pleased”. (from Eudocia). Or better yet, the YouTube comment from just below where the music is, where Sadou Diallo, a listener, comments, “ Dunya means Life in many African languages. I'am Fulani and we call life aduna sounds adouna. Beautiful lives to all of you, peace on you journeys, peace on your bodies, peace on your souls, peace on your family, peace from a victorious land. Love you all guys. Your sister from humanity.”
