Real-time data collection from sensors and remote control of fields or greenhouses via the cloud are child's play with Edge Control, the new remote monitoring system launched by Arduino Pro.

Suitable for precision and smart farming operations, the device - which can be installed anywhere - is powered by a solar panel or a DC power supply and remotely controlled via Arduino Cloud or third-party services. The connection is guaranteed by integrated Bluetooth or, with an expansion, by 2G, 3G, CatM1 or NB-IoT, LoRa®, Sigfox and Wifi modems.

Edge Control monitors entire processes in real time, reducing production risks, and automates irrigation, fertilization or pest control, limiting fatigue and human error. In detail, it connects sensors that collect various data (weather conditions, soil quality, crop development) and operates actuators, including some valves widely used in agriculture. The data provided by the sensors are sent to Arduino Cloud, where they will be analyzed, generating information to support business processes.

Tested on several occasions, the Arduino Pro device - which is now integrated into the new Irriduo® irrigation system by Challenge Agriculture - makes it possible to automatically manage humidity and temperature in the greenhouse ensuring an ideal environment for growing crops, increasing economic performance and reducing the environmental impact.
