Moonlight wasn’t born out of a distant idea; it was created to solve an actual, real-world problem. To keep up with the flood of LLM advancement, couple ML Engineers of our team started reviewing LLM papers on daily basis from arXiv, which at the time had the raw volume of 50-200+ papers. Although the thrill was there, the task proved to be exhausting and inefficient. We realized there had to be a better way to streamline the process of digesting complex research, and this contributed to the spark of Moonlight.
